Cuba’s National Electric Grid is synchronized

The Cuban Electric Union informed on Tuesday that the National Electric Grid (SEN for its Spanish acronym) had been synchronized at 2:44 p.m. local time.

Previously, the director of Electric Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Lázaro Guerra, explained on national television that the western part of the country has a fairly high percentage of service coverage, although problems remain due to a lack of generation capacity.

He pointed out that in the rest of the country the levels of problems are higher, since only one unit in Nuevitas (Camagüey) and two in the Felton (Holguin) power plant are working.

However, with the new additions, the current escenario will improve, said Guerra, who stressed that there is better conditions fuel availability at present than before the SEN disconnection on October 18.

Guerra said this Monday the subsystem of the western zone was further consolidated. Thus, from Pinar del Río province to a part of Matanzas, there were no service problems in the early hours of the morning.

Guerra pointed out that the other system, which reaches Holguin with the input of the Felton 1 unit, reached as expected Santiago de Cuba this Tuesday morning in order to balance the system andoput an end to the affectation.

Thus, Cuba’s Power System was finally synchronized.
