From October 15 until October 31, the First International Conference on Human Anatomy in Health Sciences (ANATOHOLG 2024), started at the amphitheater of the faculty Mariana Grajales Coello of the School of Medical Sciences of Holguín, with a plenary session that began with a master lecture given by noted Doctor of Science Rafael Manuel Trinchet Soler.
According to the head of the department of Basic Biomedical Sciences of the University of Medical Sciences, Mariela Diéguez Martínez, “this date was chosen to commemorate World Anatomy Day.
In the event, that is held on line and in room participation, the specialist added that the many papers were received were reviewed to be presented in the online session.
She added that in the face-to-face meeting, in addition to Dr. Trinchet’s lecture, an exhibition of basic media was opened, together with a book fair with the participation of professors, student assistants and medical students, and that those professionals with a outstanding results were recognized.
In this event, where more than thirty papers are taking part, they were focused on scientific discussion on the basic clinical integration from the anatomical basis of the diseases, giving way to an intergenerational exchange; which is a way to encourage the new generations the sense of belonging and interest towards the specialty of Anatomy.
According to the also Master of Science, the students of Medicine are receiving content related to the specialty of human anatomy at various points in their majors. In the first year in the subjects
Ontogeny and Soma, and the Nervous, Endocrine and Reproductive System, while in the second year through the subject of Cardiovascular, Respiratory and Renal System.
In addition, the 1st International Conference promotes contemporary debates on the main topics that address the study of Human Anatomy and its contributions.
This meeting becomes a space for reflection and debate in the teaching and scientific community, with the active participation of the scientific community, what guarantees the continuity of the event in the virtual modality.
Coinciding in physical space with this event are the First Meeting of Basic Clinical Integration, the First Intergenerational Meeting of Basic Science Trainers and the First Meeting of students assistants of Human Anatomy in the Human Anatomy in Health Sciences.
Since 2019, every October 15 is celebrated as World Anatomy Day. Anatomy Day, the date on which Andreas Vesalius, father of modern anatomy, passed away. During the XIX Congress of the International Federation of Anatomists Associations (IFAA) the date was established.
