Nearly 300 tour-operators from Spain and Portugal arrived in Holguín to participate in the second Macro Convention of the DIT Gestión group of travel agencies, which will once again be held in the country, with the aim of promoting the tourism values of eastern Cuba.
At Frank País García International Airport, located in this city, the flight from Lisbon was received this Saturday with the European representatives who will participate in the event to be held until October 12.
Giana Galindo Enríquez, commercial director of the Ministry of Tourism, told ACN that the program is focused on the training of tour operators and training with the tourism products of the eastern region currently available for sale in retail agencies.
Also included as part of the program are visits to sites of interest in the provinces of Holguin, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo since Spain and Portugal are among the main tourist issuing markets during the summer, making it necessary to boost sales to those clients this season, she explained.
Lander Arriaga, general director of DIT Gestión, expressed the satisfaction of holding this event in Cuba for the second consecutive time, this time with the purpose of promoting European tourism in a region characterized by its good gastronomy and excellent beaches.
Also, for the first time, a cargo of more than six tons of medical supplies and medicines arrived for the three provinces linked to the event, as a result of a humanitarian campaign carried out by DIT Gestion in collaboration with the NGO Unidos Infinity, said María del Carmen Noris Mariño, head of the international relations department of the General Directorate of Health in the province.
Cuba, a country recognized as one of the best sun and beach products, is characterized for being a sustainable and quality destination, attractive for all travelers visiting the Caribbean and has excellent poles, including Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Varadero, Holguin and Trinidad.
