With the purpose of perfecting the use of ultrasound in emergency and critical patients, the pre-congress course on imaging ORIENTIMAGEN 2024 was recently held online at Lucía Iñiguez Landín Surgical Clinical Hospital.
This training course was attended by 82 professionals from all over Cuba and was designed by specialists in Imaging. Among its objectives, it sought to disseminate, update and generalize the essential knowledge on this valuable diagnostic tool in order to acquire new knowledge on how to implement it effectively. This is a way of influencing the quality of care for these patients in critical situations.
Hence, the course was focused on teaching professionals of this specialty and other related specialties about the techniques and protocols necessary to use ultrasound effectively in emergency situations.
Ultrasound in routine medical practice is a fundamental resource in the evaluation and management of medical emergencies. Its use allows obtaining fast and accurate information, which is decisive in clinical decision making as it provides valuable data in this type of cases.
The planning of the course on the Telegram digital platform generated great interest, not only among imaging specialists, but also among graduates in related areas and undergraduate students, evidence of its usefulness in the services provided to the population on a daily basis.
Thus, after this pre-congress course, a more homogeneous approach to the use of ultrasound in emergency care is expected, a principle that should progressively have a positive impact on the care received by patients in this northeastern region in need of ultrasound studies. Undoubtedly a unique experience that should be multiplied in the future.
