Onofre, only player from Holguin in the final of Try Out 2024

On September 28 and 29, Havana will host the main talents of Cuban baseball as part of the final of the Try Out that began in the province of Santiago de Cuba.

After carrying out these tests in each of the regions of the country, namely East, Central and West, about 60 athletes were chosen by the coaches to participate in this final part after meeting each of the parameters required by the scouts at the international level.

As part of this final list appears the outfielder from Holguín, Juan Cristián Onofre, according to the provincial commissioner of this discipline, Irochis Bartutis, who also added that in the next few days the athlete must travel to the Cuban capital.

Onofre was one of the most outstanding fielders in the country, a factor that was influenced by his previous experience after playing in several try outs during his stay in the Dominican Republic.

During the 63rd National Baseball Series, Holguin native athlete achieved an offensive average of .307 thanks to 59 hits, among them 11 doubles, a triple and three homers in 192 innings. He also scored 40 runs, 15 RBIs.

However, his greatest merit was breaking the record of stolen bases for a rookie in the Holguín team thanks to his 21 steals in 27 attempts.
