The Empresa de Servicios de Ingeniería y Diseño Vértice from Holguín participates in the materialization of a work of social interest in Guyana, which promotes the welfare of senior citizens and favors the establishment of commercial relations abroad.
Given the international aging of the population, the attention and protection of this age group is of special importance, which is why new construction approaches for housing, health and leisure institutions that reflect their real needs are emerging, Ivett Planas Trujillo, head of the entity’s Design Department, explained to ACN.

With this goal in mind, she was in charge of the conception of a residence and recreational center for the elderly that includes a medical area, with 100 internal places and 200 day places, different modalities that combine elements of comfort such as the use of ramps and areas used for sound recreation, she said.
The difficulty lay in the short time available to present the proposal, which had to comply with the architectural characteristics of the nation, which required study, including the use of piles due to its location in areas prone to flooding and the installation of cisterns to make use of rainwater, she said.
However, this type of work is not alien to the institution with a vast experience in consulting, design and preparation of works throughout the Caribbean island, whose main destinations are socio-economic, she said.
The architect added that of social relevance they have collaborated in the construction of homes corresponding to the National Housing Program in the Villa Nueva 3 neighborhood, in the municipality of Holguin, and the construction of casitas infantiles (children’s care centers) such as “Pequeños castores”, belonging to the Engineering Works Company number 16 (ECOI), located in Mayari.

She also stated that they have also contributed to the reconstruction of health centers, among which stands out Doctor Gustavo Aldereguía General Hospital in Gibara, and the repair of infrastructure damaged by natural disasters, which has enhanced their prestige in terms of humanitarian projects.
Founded in 2004, Vértice has won important awards for its work in the sector, including the Quality Award of the Republic of Cuba, the Technological Innovation Award granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, and on several occasions the National Vanguard status.
