The inauguration of the exhibition “El ruido, el silencio” (The Noise, the Silence), by artist Christian Escalona Herrera, marked the beginning of the sixth Conference on Theory and Critics of Visual Arts “Un disparo en el hueco” (A Shot in the Hole), which will be held until next Saturday in the city of Holguin.
Previously presented during Gibara International Festival, the exhibition was opened to the public on Wednesday at the Provincial Center of Fine Arts with the integration of new works that combine the use of different techniques of design, printing and engraving.
Journalist and art critic Erian Peña Pupo highlighted during the opening the futuristic character of the exhibition and emphasized the role of the pieces added for the day and the power of technology as the center of the discourse.

Cristhian Escalona Herrera’s photographs are an invitation to reflect on the balance between security and privacy, and how our individual freedom can be affected by such surveillance, Peña Pupo said.
This visual arts appreciation event, held since 2014, aims at updating aspects revolving around artistic production and thought both in Cuba and the world through exchanges with experts to develop the training of specialized professionals.
“A Shot in the Hole”, in its sixth edition proposes panels and conservatories dedicated to art criticism and thought in Cuba, accredited on this occasion by the CPAP and the University of Holguin.
