A panel on art criticism in Cuba was the highlight of the first day of “Un disparo en el hueco” (A Shot in the Hole), an event that runs until Saturday in the city of Holguin.
Nelson Herrera Ysla, curator and specialist at the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, presented the existing lack of practice of the genre in the press media and the loss of the exercise and study of the subject on the part of the journalistic guild.
He also referred to the advantages and difficulties of the new technologies for the visual disciplines and explained that this process is defined by the periodicity, but also by the knowledge that the expert.
Herrera also pointed out about the development of foreign art in the country with the presentation of “Havana, a laboratory for over 30 years”, a collection of photographs of works exhibited at Havana Biennial between 1984 to 2019.
For his part, PhD. Jorge Nuñez Motes, critic and researcher, with the conference “Watercolors, landscapes and visuality in Regino Boti”, explained the life and work of the renowned author as an artist, painter and draftsman, showing a variety of works ranging from early ages to the last decade of his life.
“Un disparo en el hueco” (A Shot in the Hole), which is being held at the Provincial Center of Fine Arts and Casa de Iberoamérica, announces for the closing of its sixth event, the exhibition “No es tiempo de flores” (No Time for Flowers), by visual artist Berta Beltrán.
