The sixth seminar on theory and criticism of visual arts “Un disparo en el hueco” (A Shot in the Hole) will take place from September 11 to 14 in the Cuban province of Holguin with the presence of personalities of the guild that will approach the genre from different spaces.

Yurisel Moreno, director of the Provincial Center of Fine Arts, explained at a press conference that the event aims at updating the aspects that revolve around artistic production and thought both in Cuba and the world through the exchange with specialists to develop the training of professionals dedicated to criticism.

Among the guests of this year’s edition are Nelson Herrera Ysla, a specialist at Wilfredo Lam Contemporary Art Center; Jorge Nuñez Motes, a professor of the University of the Arts and Tania Dranguet Guerrero, head of the criticism and research section of the Hermanos Saiz Association in Santiago de Cuba, she said.

Moreno also pointed out that the opening included the exhibition “El ruido, el silencio”, by visual artist Cristhian Escalona, at the Transitory Hall of the Provincial Center of Fine Arts, while the show “No es tiempo de flores”, by Bertha Beltran, will close the event.

Un disparo en el hueco, a biennial event, was held for the first time in 2014 and promotes new ways of approaching art through exchanges and conversations with experts in the field.
