The delegation from the Cuban province of Holguin that will attend the 48th edition of the National Youth Seminar on Martí Studies, to be held in Camagüey from September 15 to 18, is currently carrying out several activities.
With the goal of going better prepared to that important appointment in the city of Camagüey, the eight delegates from Holguin have visited centers of economic and social importance in the territory such as Bucanero Beer Factory, Turquino Canned and Vegetable Company, Iberostar Selection Holguin Hotel and Mayabe Valley.
Reynaldo Zaldívar Osorio, president of the Movimiento Juvenil Martiano (MJM) in this northeastern Cuban province, points out that these actions will be followed, starting on September 2, by exchanges with large youths, planned at José Martí Educational Complex and at Pedro Díaz Coello sports school.
They will also visit the community of El Coco, some highland communities, and will have a close look at the meritorious work of the Center for Research and Rehabilitation of Hereditary Ataxias, with outcomes of international reference.
The six youths, several of whom have already been presented before their peers, come from the Vladimir Ilich Lenin Provincial Hospital, the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin and from elementary schools, senior high schools and pedagogical schools.
Zaldívar Osorio emphasizes that each youth brings to the National Youth Seminar of Martí Studies a research, so that Holguín will be exhibiting works on different aspects of the life of the Apostle of Cuba.
He specifies that among the topics are studies on José Martí’s first letter to his mother where his early awareness of the society of his time is demonstrated; the unity between the thoughts of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and the National Hero; also on cultural colonization and Martí’s version of the U.S. empire; and others related to the plastic arts.
He highlighted that Holguin will bring one of the two seminarians who will represent the Cuban religious community, who carried out a research on Martí and religion.
He underscored that Holguin delegates have had a wide preparation with professors of the José Martí Cultural Society and the Union of Historians of Cuba so that their researches have the depth that the vast Marti’s work deserves.
He also states that these young people are concerned about the ideological conception of the Homeland where they were born and have a solid work within the Movimiento Juvenil Martiano, which groups 306 members and is characterized by teamwork.
