Holguin, as well as the rest of the Cuban provinces of the country, is working in a plan of activities that tribute to the day for the World Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer to be celebrated next September 16.
The delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, Citma in the territory has been the governing body of these activities that involve various sectors.

Norkis Ochoa Aguilera, head of the Department of Environmental Policy Instrument in the Citma delegation, commented on the actions carried out in Holguin: “we have designed a plan of activities through which we have involved various entities and layers of the population, we have held meetings with children of the community supported in this case by the Saratoga Hotel”.
Thanks to the effort of the organisms and entities Holguín figures as one of the outstanding territories in the protection of the ozone layer, for which it has been recognized in several occasions but it is not conformity for those who work for the care of the environment.
The depletion of the ozone layer prompted the international community to establish a cooperation mechanism to adopt measures to protect it.
Therefore, in September 1987, the Montreal Protocol was published to control the production and consumption of ozone-depleting substances.
