As a tribute to the martyrs of the Cuban Revolution, this July 30, the first summer youth camp was held in the areas of the Chavaleta Production Sector in the municipality of Mayarí, in the province of Holguín.
The camp, René Ramos Latour, welcomes more than 100 youngsters from the municipalities of Holguín province, who participate in the support of agriculture in Valle Dos, in addition to visiting centers of historical and cultural interest in Mayarí.
The inauguration of the youth camp was attended by Joel Queipo Ruíz, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and First Secretary of the PCC in the province of Holguín, Manuel Hernández Aguilera, deputy to the National Assembly of the People’s Power and Governor of the province, accompanied by the highest authorities of Mayari and the Young Communist League.
Queipo Ruiz remembered the bravery and sacrifice of the martyrs of the Revolution, and at the same time acknowledged the support and backing of this Revolution, while acknowledging this youth initiative, which seeks to train the new generations to love the land and production work.
During their stay at the camp, the young people will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of agriculture for the country’s development and work in the planting and harvesting of various crops. They will also have cultural and recreational activities to enrich their comprehensive formation.
The Chavaleta Productive Pole has 530 hectares with a gravity water supply from intake one of Mayarí dam.
Currently, six central pivot machines are installed in this area, covering 54 hectares, where corn, pumpkin, plantain and sweet potato are planted, while sustainable agricultural practices are boosted, such as the use of organic fertilizers and efficient irrigation methods.
