Holguin’s first Technological Center, which inaugurated part of its facilities this summer season, promotes sound recreation through a wide variety of services related to Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs).
This local development project, located in the vicinity of Julio Grave de Peralta Park, provides services ranging from gastronomy, electronic development and commerce.
Roger Guerrero Peña, Telecommunications Engineer and founder of the center, explained to the Cuban News Agency that the facility offers several spaces for enjoyment, including a laboratory and a mini amusement park equipped with car simulators free of charge.
The facility is open Monday through Sunday from 08:00 am to 05:00 pm and has other services suitable for all ages such as a cyber cafe, a workshop for media repair, a prototype room, a space for office automation and a commission store that will soon be accessible on the web, he said.
To make this center come true, the efforts of eight state entities and five private actors, among which stand out the Joven Club de Computación, the University of Holguín, the companies Copextel, Serconi and Xetid and the MSMEs Salva PC, Dseart, the Racmad project, Servitec and MyTech, he pointed out.
Guerrero Peña added that the building also has a protocol room, which can be rented for events, meetings and conferences, and also uses solar energy as one of its energy sources, with 152 panels that generate 38 kilowatts (kW).
At present, the restoration and improvement of the first level, where a modern 12D cinema, a videoconference room and a software conception laboratory will be located, has yet to be completed, he said.
Likewise, he explained that the facility will continue working uninterruptedly from now on, while the works for its completion are being carried out, where a recording studio will also be set up.
The new Holguin Technology Center, located in an old building erected between the 19th and 20th centuries, is part of Cuba’s efforts to promote the use of science and innovation by the people.
