New social works in Holguin in salute to July 26th

Among the social works to be inaugurated in the municipality of Gibara, Holguín, on the occasion of the commemoration of July 26, National Rebellion Day, the first stage of the new premise of the General Hospital Doctor Gustavo Aldereguía Lima stands out, according to a report by ACN.

The restoration work being carried out will significantly improve the conditions of comfort and infrastructure of this health care institution, located in the former psychiatric hospital.

Andrés Ricardo Rivas, president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in this territory, reported that this phase will include the on-call corps, two operating rooms and the gynecology and obstetrics services, which will be resumed.

In addition, work is expected to begin in August on a second period that will cover all other medical services, including a geriatric ward designed to attend to the aging population of this coastal town, which is the longest-lived in Cuba.

Progress is also being made in the construction of a grandparents’ home, another of the social works expected to be completed in 2025, which will expand the care capabilities for this vulnerable population group.

Gibara, located on the northern coast of the province, was one of the Holguin municipalities highlighted in the July 26 emulation due to its positive results and indicators in food production, local development, productive chains and basic services.

Villa Blanca, as this locality is also known, with an area of 630 square kilometers, was founded on January 16, 1817.
