Creation of the first camping site in Holguin is celebrated

La Silla de Gibara camping site, the first of its type in the province of Holguin, celebrates today 42 years of its foundation, as one of the establishments of the business group Campismo Popular of greater preference by clients from several regions of Cuba.

It takes its name from the emblematic elevation that resembles a horse saddle, integrated to the landscape of Gibara, but geographically located in the municipality of Rafael Freyre.

Carlos Toledo Armas, provincial director of Campismo Popular, in an exclusive statements to the ACN commented that after several investments, today La Silla de Gibara offers visitors services such as lodging, gastronomy, recreation and store to receive 168 vacationers in each 168 vacationers to be accommodated in 43 rooms in each rotation, twelve of them with air-conditioned and comfort.

The resort’s recreational options include the swimming pool and excursions to Las Tinajitas, one of the reference sites for nature tourism in Holguín, from where visitors can enjoy the landscape described in Christopher Columbus’ Navigation Diary during the discovery of Cuba in 1492.

Located on the slopes of Las Tinajitas hill, in the mountainous group Maniabón in northern Holguin, the attractive environment is distinguished by huge karst rocks that give the shape of mogotes to the highest of its elevations as one of the preferred areas for the full enjoyment of the environment that invites a full time stay.

Toledo Armas commented that in view of the imminent summer season, Campismo Popular will have all its establishments open and expects to welcome some 60,000 users in July and August, including guests, hikers and visitors in the form of excursions.

Through the implemented strategies of productive linkages, there are guarantees of good food for the period and on the festive dates of the stage, including Children’s Day, July 26 and the birthday of Fidel Castro, – historic leader of the Cuban Revolution – and creator of the program in the country, he said.

The Empresa Provincial de Campismo Popular in Holguín has 169 solid rooms and 191 tents, distributed in 10 facilities capable of operating with 1,820 clients simultaneously to position itself in the fastest growing territory in the country during the last few years in this type of recreation that maintains the principle of integration with the natural environment
