Sport in summer season in Holguin

The proposals for the next summer season announced by the Provincial Summer Commission in Holguin through its Recreation and Use of Leisure Time Project, where one of the main attractions is sports, are varied.

In this sense, MSc. María Amelia Cancino Pérez, president of the commission, said that the whole system of INDER institutions in the province will be activated, with the help of teachers and students of the School of Physical Education Teachers, coaches, activists and sports glories.

He specified that 39 sports combines, 370 permanent physical recreation areas, 14 chess areas, 29 public and school toy libraries, 14 therapeutic areas, 14 state gyms and 37 of the non-state sector, as well as two swimming pools will operate.

From July 1 to 15, Holguín will host representatives of three specialties of the 60th National School Sports Games: school and pioneer chess, school and youth women’s volleyball and school baseball, which will compete at the Art Center, the Ateneo Fernando de Dios and the “Calixto García” stadium, respectively.

In sports, the XXXIII Olympic Games of Paris 2024, from July 26 to August 11, as well as the XVII Paralympic Games, which will also take place in the French capital, but from August 28 to September 8, also coincide with the summer stage.Cancino Perez highlighted other important moments of the summer calendar such as the “July 26” Orienteering Race, to be held on Monday 22, as well as the Recreational Sports Festival for the National Rebellion Day, on Thursday, July 25.

During July and August, the Sports Museum, located at the “Calixto García” Baseball Stadium, will also be open to the Holguín public, while short courses will be offered on umpiring rules, Baseball 5, soccer and sports hiking.

From August 11 to 13, the Cubaila 2024 Mega Event will be held, while on August 23, a race-walk will be held to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women.
