Another Father‘s Day arrives and we celebrate it differently from Mother’s Day. For the mother, from days before, there is an explosion of commercial offers with flowers, postcards, cosmetics, or whatever the mother needs and can be bought in Cuba.
But the best thing you can give to the father is love, because for love we were born and for love we die, although a shaving foam, a shaving machine, a delicious beer, a tasty meal, a nice bathing suit, to show off your body on the beach, never hurt.
As part of the animal kingdom, to which man belongs, the father is also beautiful and likes tight jeans to show that the male also has a nice body.
I admit that being a father is the best thing that ever happened to me in my life. I remember when my daughter Isabella’s mother revealed to me that she was pregnant, and, at the time, I did not react at all well, because I did not have all the resources to bring a child into this world, but thanks to God, my family and my friends my daughter has never lacked anything material and, least of all, the love of her father.
When Isabella came into my life everything changed for the better. I never thought that being a father was something so beautiful and difficult at the same time, because it is a lifelong responsibility.
Then time flies and suddenly that little baby grows up and you realize how time goes by watching her grow and the days go by fast and you see how she goes through elementary school, middle school, high school and you are surprised when she tells you that she will major in your same field, that will be the second journalist in the family (as it is my case), to my pride and to the surprise of many others.
To be a parent is to be a counselor, super hero, teacher, psychologist, cook, and so many other professions and, perhaps, none of them you have studied but you have to be one to guide them through life in the best way and education.
Now I remember the Canadian novelist Denis Lord (1900-1957) when he said: “A father is not the one who gives life, that would be too easy, a father is the one who gives love”. That is why it is so necessary and beautiful to educate a child with love and for love.
When the time comes to be a father, life leads us to value our father more, although I have him in eternity, he always lives inside me, because he was a beautiful man, not only for his physical appearance but also for his personality as a human, honest and God-loving father. And for that reason that Oriental proverb comes to my mind: “Rule your house and you will know how much firewood and rice cost; raise your children, and you will know how much you owe your parents”.
The best thing you can tell your dad on his day is how much you love him. Convey to him your love, admiration and gratitude, so that he knows that in his task as a father he has fulfilled with honors. Because we can all make mistakes, but if you remember your father on this date, it is because, through thick and thin, he did what he did best.
