Holguín: Numa’s results validated nationwide

The unity among its tireless working team has been the main key to the success of the Empresa Provincial Productora y Distribuidora de Alimentos (Numa) of Holguín, which arrives at the Food and Fishing Industry Workers’ Day, celebrated this January 25, as outstanding at the national level and a reference of good practices for the entities of the sector.

Jorge Luis Fajardo Casas, the highest representative of this workers’ union, said, during a recent visit to Holguín, that Numa, in addition to obtaining the aforementioned status, was recognized as the best food products entity in the archipelago, to the delight of those who are witnesses of its commitment.

Such merits are not the result of accidents, but rather coincide with the systematic fulfillment of multiple indicators and correct business management. Its workers have experienced several sleepless nights waiting for the long-awaited flour or motivated by the completion of an order, but getting this far has been worth it.

At the end of 2023, the company did not close with losses, it exceeded its commercial production and net sales, which led to an increase in the profits received by its workers, together with the attention to those who make up the workforce.

These benefits were possible thanks to the constant search for alternative solutions, self-management and productive linkages with new economic actors.

Los Libertadores project, for example, was one of the major transitions, implemented to increase production levels, expand the corporate purpose, extend marketing to a larger number of people and make this reflected in the remuneration of human capital.

Science and innovation occupy a fundamental place in this industry in Holguin, as a response to limitations with raw materials and technological obsolescence. The work with non-conventional flours is a sample of the creative capacity of its collective and has contributed to not slowing down the processes.

“Our workers, from their positions, contribute to the creation of new products and services, design strategies to fulfill the plans and, under any circumstance, are ready to distribute the flour, make the bread and market it”, acknowledged with special pride Kirenia Balada Peña, director of the company.

According to the director, Numa’s team is a movement made up of good men and women, forged in the most autochthonous revolutionary principles, who give their best every day with the certainty of overcoming any difficulty to bring quality products to the people.

Being tenacious in the assigned tasks, without succumbing to the fatigue of exhausting days, demonstrates the sense of belonging that distinguishes the food producers, always focused on reinventing themselves and effectively applying dissimilar measures that allow the promotion of the socialist state enterprise.

“Making each of the municipalities that make up the province feel that we have a people waiting for us is a strength. We know that the demands are greater, compared to our offers, and we must focus on increasing the latter, gradually,” Balada stressed.

Timely recognition becomes an incentive to never stop improving and, consequently, the company is clear that the future is full of challenges: it is a priority to promote the exploitation of idle capacities, as well as to increase cooperative production contracts with foreign investors, private economic actors and agricultural producers.

Likewise, taking advantage of reserves and introducing new products are important lines of work for this year, which is just beginning.

They know that it is not an easy task to continue the development of the food industry, in a context affected by economic limitations, but the unity and constancy in everything that is executed, together with the optimal use of resources, will lead them to show off their slogan and offer a “Golden Feast Every Day”.
