Sultanes of Holguin to revalidate the crown in provincial baseball

The Sultanes of Holguín will take to the field of their Feliú Leyva stadium on Wednesday 20 in search of the final of the XLVI Provincial Baseball Series against the Cafetaleros of Sagua de Tánamo.

This conclusive phase, of five to the best in three, is dominated 2-0 by the defending champions, after winning last Saturday as visitors with scores of 6×1 and 3×0 and respective successes for Jesús Quintán and José Miguel Rivas.

Both Cafetaleros and Sultanes finished the qualifying stage with a 17-7 record, but the TQB placed Cafetaleros first and Sultanes third.

In the quarterfinals, the Cafetaleros defeated the Colosos of Urbano Noris 2-0 and in the semifinals they defeated the Piratas of Gibara 3-0. Meanwhile, the Sultanes defeated the Mineros of Moa 2-0 in the quarterfinals and the Alegres of Mayari 3-1 in the semifinals.

The team from the provincial capital city is seeking its tenth crown in these competitions and the representatives of the mountainous municipality of Sagua de Tanamo aspire to their seventh throne, something they have not achieved since 1991.

The team that wins the crown will represent the province in the Club Champions baseball tournament scheduled for 2024, from January 19 to February 12.
