The University of Medical Sciences of Holguin is preparing for the accreditation of three more medical specialties between December 11 and 15.
Neonatology, Intensive Care and Emergency and Anesthesia and Resuscitation are the programs that will be evaluated by the National Accreditation Board, said Dr. Rosel Dorrego Anzardo, director of Postgraduate Studies of the University.
Recently, the Health System University in Holguin accredited with very good results six specialties and a master’s degree in Medical Education, bringing the total number of accredited programs to 21.
With the new specialties scheduled for December, the center aims to close 2023 with 70 percent of its postgraduate programs accredited.
The University of Medical Sciences of Holguin, a certified institution and the third with the highest enrollment in the country, is a leader in the training of health professionals for Cuba and the world.
Many professors of its faculty belong to the Cuban Society of Educators in Health Sciences, which favors the development of pedagogical research that influences the improvement and quality of the training process of professionals in the Medical Sciences.
It has a scientific potential of more than 300 categorized researchers and offers the opportunity of postgraduate training in different specialties, which have different teaching hospitals as training scenarios.
Sixty-one specialties are authorized for training in the province: 52 medical, 5 stomatological and 4 for nursing graduates.
The University of the Health System of Holguin has among its priorities scientific research as an inherent substantive process, which favors the development of science, technology and innovation.
Since it opened its doors, it has graduated more than 33 thousand students, including more than 250 foreigners from 48 sister nations.
