In recognition to its work and at times of the celebration this Friday December 7th the 30 anniversary of the founding of the Association of Veterans of the Cuban Revolution (ACRC for its Spanish acronym), the provincial branch was bestowed with the Escudo de Holguín (Holguin Coat of Arms).
Rafael Carballosa Niego, president of the ACRC in the territory, received it during the political-cultural gala “Guardianes de la Patria”, held at Celia Sánchez Manduley theater, of the headquarter of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, inspired on the date.
The cast gala, with the protagonism of soloists of the Rodrigo Prats Lyrical Theater, of the choir Orfeón Holguin, artists from the Company Palabras al Viento and Feeling voices vocal group, was the synthesis of a day filled with activities that salute the new anniversary of the organization, that then especially recognize founding leaders of the province for their work, love for the Homeland and struggle for a better future.

In the event, recognitions went for Dr. Pura Avilés Cruz, Working Heroine of the Republic of Cuba, – an internationalist combatant and founder of the ACRC-, as well as other combatants and organizations linked to this association; they all received the badge “30 aniversario”.
For their comprehensive work and positive results, the municipal directions of Holguín, Banes, Mayarí, Moa and Gibara were recognized.

Consequent to history and the legacy of the founders of honor of the Association of Veterans of the Cuban Revolution: the Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, and Comandante Juan Almeida Bosque, the more than 27 900 associates from Holguin province continue to strengthen the patriotic-military, political-ideological work in the new generations, with its key mission and huge feat, to contribute to the defense of the country’s sovereignty, said the ACRC president in Holguín.
The moving gala took place on the presence of Arelis Guerrero Marrero, member of the Central Committee of the Comunist Party of Cuba and of the Politburo inb the province of Holguín; Manuel Hernández Aguilera, deputy to the Cuban Parliament and Governor of Holguín; first colonel Argelio Hernández Bairam, chief of the political section of the country’s Eastern Army, and member of the ACRC National Directive Board; first colonel Florencio Navas Guevara, chief of the Holguín Military Region; and colonel Víctor Rafael Miralles Legón, chief of the Ministry of Interior (Minint) in the territory.
