Yaima Cruz de la Cruz, head of the of Early Childhood in the General Directorate of Education in Holguin, informed the ACN that there are currently 15 children’s care centers in the province, 14 of them inaugurated during this year, where more than 300 children are cared for and taught, from the first to the fifth year of life.
Of these institutions in Holguín, seven belong to the belong to the Ministry of Education, and eight were projects of sectors such as Agriculture, Public Health, Agriculture, and to Medano construction materials company, she explained.
Cruz de la Cruz pointed out that in these centers, which were set up through the efforts of local entities, follow the same program and methodological and methodological guidelines of the state children’s day care centers, which include a comprehensive process taught by teachers and pedagogical assistants trained by Education.
The little ones receive knowledge on natural world and their mother tongue, as well as basic notions of Mathematics and Artistic Education, which guarantee the continuity of their studies in semi-boarding schools, according to the availability of the province, she said.
She added that other four new schools are being planned in the municipalities of Gibara, Rafael Freyre and Moa, and works are underway to inaugurate the one located in the Military Region.
This strategy, implemented in nine of Holguin’s 14 municipalities, emerged as an alternative to meet the educational needs of early childhood and reduce the demand for places in kindergartens, and constitutes a significant advance in the pedagogical system in the northeastern part of the country.
