The Commander of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, vice prime minister of the Republic of Cuba, supervised this Thursday several aspects linked to the socioeconomic functioning of Holguín province, as part of the governmental visit being made here.
The implementation and control of Instruction No. 3 of 2023, related to measures for the rational use of energy, was the topic that kicked off the debate.
Accompanied by Juan Torres Naranjo, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines, and Joan Abel Palmero Pérez, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguin, Valdés Menéndez first participated in the Provincial Energy Council, in the head municipality, where he was interested in the tasks that are executed throughout our geography.
In this regard, the impact of the actions in the state sector was recognized; however, despite maintaining positive results, they still need to gain in organization to achieve better indicators.
It was informed that 44 photovoltaic systems have been installed in pumping stations of the energy matrix change program, while limiting the operation of refrigerators and cold chambers, which do not contain products whose conservation is affected if they are out of the right temperature, according to Rosell González Pérez, coordinator of programs and objectives of the provincial government.
To continue the bet for teleworking, according to the conditions of the workers to assume it, and to detect electric frauds and other deficiencies associated to the control of electricity, are fundamental tasks.
The Council was called upon to follow up on the consumption of the new economic actors of non-State management, since it is the duty of all to comply with what has been established, in view of the current energy situation.
In the exchange, the importance of timely identifying high consumers, generalizing savings in those centers that can reduce their consumption during peak hours and ensuring the rational use of fuel was emphasized.
The Commander also emphasized on the need to reinforce the control of compliance with the measures in the different areas to contribute to the reduction of demand in the province. To this end, fostering energy awareness in the population is fundamental, together with the correct communication and the accompaniment of the mass organizations.
“As individuals and as revolutionaries we must reflect on the need to maintain a consistent attitude, to propitiate the rational use of energy, in the midst of the economic war against Cuba,” he stressed.
On the housing program
During the second part of the governmental visit, there was a discussion on the fulfillment of the housing program, recognizing Banes and Antilla as the municipalities with the best results, but aware that greater efficiency and the search for alternatives are still required in view of the limitations.
The behavior of subsidies and self-help construction was discussed, with emphasis on improving the survey of the number of mothers with more than three children and the pending cases in the province, in order to establish a proper order.
The rehabilitations have benefited more than one thousand houses, which is reflected in 83 percent of the year’s plan, however, some municipalities present non-compliances, for various causes.
Avoiding illegalities and irregularities in the manufacture of houses will have an impact on reducing technical and constructive problems, which affect their inhabitants and whose solution, in the long run, represents a necessity for the nation.
“It is necessary to recover the housing stock and rescue those in poor condition,” Valdés Menéndez pointed out.
Continuing the incentive of the local production of construction materials, which has incorporated the production of floor slabs, connections and clay pipes and is making inroads in the production of rasillas tiles, is beneficial to increase the efficiency of the works.
The governmental visit, which runs until Friday in Holguin, will allow for the exchange of authorities and representatives of the country’s top management with the people of our territory, as well as the verification of several aspects of crucial importance for the provincial operation.
