President Díaz-Canel continues visit to Holguín

The governmental visit to the province of Holguin continues today in this eastern territory, headed by President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic.

During the day, President Diaz-Canel is expected to visit different sites of the head municipality, as well as to exchange with students of the University of Holguin.

As part of the program, Cuban government authorities will hold meetings with the population, visit vulnerable neighborhoods and places of economic and social interest, in addition to taking an interest in core issues such as housing, roads and water supply.

On Thursday, the government visit to Holguin included a visit by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz to the University of Moa, Doctor Antonio Núñez Jiménez, the children’s house “Amiguitos del Che” and Tejar de Centeno, where he emphasized the importance of working with the new generations and the local production of construction materials.

In turn, Salvador Valdés Mesa, Vice President of the Republic of Cuba exchanged on the territorial development of the municipality of Rafael Freyre; while Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, Vice Prime Minister toured institutions such as the University of Medical Sciences and the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Teaching Hospital.

Deputy Prime Ministers Inés María Chapman, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca and Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés also visited Banes, Mayarí and Holguín, respectively, to check on food production and the use of local capacities, among other issues of interest.

The governmental visits are aimed at evaluating the progress of the main economic and social programs in each territory and are part of a systematic work style to facilitate the interrelation with local government representatives.
