Holguin guarantees coffee supply for Granma and Las Tunas

The Reynerio Almaguer Paz Coffee Roastery, located in Holguin and called Torrefactora, guarantees the production of the aromatic infusion included in the basic food basket for the month of October for the provinces of Granma, Las Tunas, in addition to this territory, after four months paralyzed.

Rider Juan Sánchez Hijuelos, director of this industry, stressed to the press that the processing of this product began last September 30 and it is expected that before October 25 the sachets will reach all the warehouses.

He emphasized that delays will not be made up, since the existing raw material does not allow it, but, even so, the delivery cycles for November will be fulfilled on time based on supply alternatives established due to the high demand of this product in the daily life of the population.

He also informed that the Torrefactora works 24 hours a day and there is a distribution scheme aimed at speeding up this process, even in the midst of the energy contingency, especially to the most distant food stores.

In the case of Holguín province, which requires 104 tons of coffee to cover the demand, the production goes from the industry directly to the warehouses, which speeds up the delivery schedules, he added.

According to the available raw material, the company must keep processing until the end of the year to cover the basic food basket, as the main social task of that state entity, he said.

The Holguín Coffee Roastery is designed to assimilate some 3,000 tons per year from imported coffee beans and peas, a process that is affected by technological obsolescence and a shortage of raw material.
