The 2nd Technology Transfer Workshop, which was held at the Lucía Iñiguez Landín clinical hospital in Holguín, was a favorable venue to address a system of actions for the implementation of the risk management model in nursing care and patient safety in highly complex services.
Precisely, the Health sector, particularly the Holguin Chapter of the Cuban Nursing Society, maintains a close relationship with this topic by contributing to the applicability of researches that constitute methodologies, procedures and strategies seen as technologies and knowledge that can be transferred.
The actions carried out in the sector to transfer technologies are the result of the doctoral thesis in Nursing Sciences of Aymara Yusimí Cruz Almaguer.
This workshop held in response to the Sustainable Health Agenda for the Americas 2018-2030 was a posthumous tribute to the Master in Emergency Medicine Rodolfo Gámez Cruz, who died in 2022 in Maputo, Mozambique while on an international mission.
Nursing professionals from Holguin and other provinces of Cuba attended the event , which also included online participation, and male nurses who are providing medical collaboration in Mozambique, where the eminent intensivist to whom the workshop was dedicated worked, for the contributions he made to the professional development of Cuban nursing and of other latitudes of the world.
This second workshop aimed at developing the capacity to generate, transfer and use the evidence of scientific knowledge to strengthen research, innovation and the use of technologies, and was consolidated as a space for exchange and rapprochement that allowed, from a socializing and human and scientific exchange perspective, to attract the best nursing practices to assist patients, taking into account the risk management applied to highly complex services, although it can also be assimilated by others.
Among the high complexity services are those of therapies and hemodialysis, which demand a performance in correspondence with high standards of advanced nursing.
Today, it is a challenge to improve the quality of care provided in which the nursing staff is involved, not only from the point of view of care but also from the academic and research area.
