The means of transportation leased to the private sector in the province of Holguín transport more than 40 thousand passengers daily along the 57 active routes they cover in the territory, in order to effectively alleviate the mobility of people.
Wilmer Garcia Ramirez, provincial director of Transportation, informed Agencia Cubana de Noticias that of the 178 routes in operation, the leased vehicles, already the leased vehicles, whether buses or trucks, are in charge of 57 urban routes, suburban and inter-municipal routes.
These routes, the manager added, are controlled by the dispatchers at the terminals, although they can be added to at the terminals, although others may be added according to demand or in support of support for sections with a higher traffic of people.
So far, the manager emphasized, a total of 136 vehicles have been rented in the territory, 101 of them for passenger transportation.
Under Resolution 207/2021 of the Ministry of Transportation, cars paralyzed for lack of major aggregates, melted engines or high structural deterioration have been recovered and made available to natural and legal persons.
The province undertakes other alternatives to contribute to the recovery and restoration of the vehicle fleet, through Decree 83/2023, which allows the conversion and change of bodywork of vehicles, both state and private entities, as long as the modifications are within the same category of the type car.
Since the implementation of means leasing in Holguín, at the end of 2022, more than five million passengers have benefitted in about 67 thousand trips, in addition to the cargo services that generate a social impact and contribute income to both the agencies and the State budget.
