Cuban President congratulates Las Tunas Leñadores team

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, today congratulated Las Tunas Leñadores, the team that won the LXII National Baseball Series title last night.

Congratulations Leñadores for their second National Series title, the President wrote on Twitter, adding that the Leñadores’ axe was a lethal weapon for Cocodrilos and Leones, the teams from Matanzas and Havana, respectively, which the Leñadores swept in the play-off.

Diaz-Canel described the winning team as the eastern nightmare at the Latin American stadium in the capital and thanked all the teams of the post-season for the show; Cuba won with you, said the head of state.

Guided by debutant manager Abeisy Pantoja, the Leñadores de Las Tunas defeated Industriales (Leones) this Friday 6-1, thus achieving, as undefeated in the final, the crown of champions of Series 62, their second title in these lides, as they also took the prize home in 2019.
