Cuban Foreign Ministry (minrex) called on Friday to join global appeal to demand the U.S. government to exclude Cuba from the spurious States Sponsoring Terrorism (SST) list and the end of thr unjust and hostile blockade against Cuba.
Through hashtags #CubaLivesResists and #OutOfTheList, the cubavive.info launched a campaign to collect one million signatures calling for Cuba to be removed from that pernicious SST list, MINREX posted on Twitter.
The call came from leaders of the Trade Union Confederation of Workers of the Americas, the Sao Pablo Forum, the International Assembly of the Peoples, the Continental Day for Democracy and against Imperialism, the World March of Women, ALBA Movement, the “Via Campesina” and the Latin American Continental Network United for Cuba.
According to promoters, Cuba is presently facing a harsh blockade whose unique purpose is to force the Cuban people into submission; a blockade that is using new tools to increase its strength and scope.
International pressure and raising awareness of this unfair U.S. policy’s true aftermaths for Cuba can put an end to such measures, consider the organizations calling for the collection of one million signatures.
Before, U.S. Senator Peter Welch, of the Democratic Party, stressed that removing Cuba from the list of sponsors of terrorism is a measure that the United States can and should take to recompose its relationship with the island.
Welch submitted a statement to the U.S. Congressional Record outlining opportunities to advance bilateral ties.
