Culture in Holguin pays tribute to women’s org FMC

An excellent gala in which music, dance, drama and audiovisuals converged, was offered by artists from Holguin to the delegates to the Provincial Assembly of the XI Congress of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC).

The show, entitled “Vencedoras de imposibles”, paid tribute to heroine Vilma Espín Guillois and stood out for its Cuban character and the high quality of its proposals.

Soloists Anabel Bandera, Marien Hernández, Nadiel Mejías and Luis Alberto Góngora, trova singer Lay Verdecia and the vocal group Golden Voices, showed their interpretative power on the stage of Martí movie theater, accompanied at times by maestros Joseph Aldana (piano) and Julio Avilés (saxophone).

Meanwhile, the choreographies were in charge of the outstanding dancer Vianki Gonzalez, the Mónik Dance Company and the students from “Raúl Gómez García” Provincial School of Art, while the theater performance counted on the histrionic and humorous seal of the oral narration company Palabras al Viento.

In addition, a fragment was shown of the documentary “Feliz Navidad” (Merry Christmas), by renowned filmmaker Alejandra Rodríguez Segura, which tells the story of Coti, a woman who lived in the Sierra Maestra, where the nearest house was an hour and 45 minutes away.

The tribute to Cuban women was attended by Teresa Amarelle Boué, member of the Political Bureau and General Secretary of the FMC, Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee and First Secretary of the Party in the province, Yunia Pérez Hernández, vice governor.

Also by Elizabeth Martínez Quintero, member of the Provincial Committee of the Party and Secretary General of the FMC in the territory, Rachel García Heredia, provincial director of Culture and Evelin Hernández, director of the Provincial Center of Cultural Heritage.
