The Julio Antonio Mella detachment of the University of Holguin accompanies the work of the Electoral Commission in the province, mainly in the tasks related to the nomination of candidates for delegates to the Municipal Assembly of People's Power.
Hector Perez, professor of law and one of the coordinators of this group to support the election process at this stage, meant to the Cuban News Agency the high degree of responsibility of the more than 1,500 students and teachers who make it up along the length and breadth of Holguin's geography.
He pointed out that this force, although mostly in the specialty of Law, also counts on students of the secondary education of General Education and stressed the preparation received by all on the Cuban legislative system in various training workshops.
The conduct of educational talks within each neighborhood together with the updating of lists of voters and the preparation of biographies of nominees are among the main activities of great utility made by these young people, he said.
He asserted that tasks like these not only give them the possibility of practically contrasting the theory learned from the academy but also contributes to the formation of an electoral culture in the population.
The process of nominating delegate candidates to the local government organs in Holguin for the general elections of November 26, go on satisfactorily in the eastern territory where about 70 percent of the assemblies scheduled for this phase have already been held.
