Sweden-Cuba Friendship Group made donation to Casa de Iberoamérica in Holguin

The Casa de Iberoamerica in the city of Holguin has, as of Monday, two record players and all its equipment, donated by the Sweden-Cuba Friendship Association together with collaborators from Denmark and Norway.

The donation, which arrived through the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP), contributes to the cultural promotion in the territory and is part of an initiative of nations of the world to help minimize the effects of the U.S. blockade against Cuba.

According to Icap's International Relations specialist, Liliana Avilés, the equipment will at the reach of musicians and students of artistic education through the entity's information center.

Yamila Fernández, Icap official, said that activists from Sweden had previously arrived at La Casa de Iberoamérica, willing to contribute to the development of Cuban artistic education.

These friends from Cuba knew of our interest in promoting Latin American music, available in acetate disc format, and knew of the limitations with the necessary equipment to reproduce it. Here is the promise, he recalled.
