Abilio Claro is a Cuban peasant that toils the land in the rural area of Pozo Blanco, in the coastal municipality of Banes, who harvested a yucca that to his nice surprise got to weigh 54 pounds, which might take you think it is a common thing, but the truth is that it makes up three at a time.
Yet surprised, Abilio shared his happiness with his family and friendships in the neighbourhood.
He took the tuber home and showed to everyone packing his home, including this reporter.
Abilio said that he went to his lot early in the morning, when something unusual called his attention, a yucca tree that exceeded the size of the other ones.
Then little by little he began digging, but it took him longer than expected; therefore, he went for the help of his son.
After several minutes of hard work, both men managed take out the yucca; but then the surprise grew after weighing the 42 pounds manioc, which together with other two ones cropped there totalled 56 pounds.
The huge yucca needed no fertilizer, just the soil and turning one year.
