Retirees Marta Riselda Carralero and Javier Cruz Hernandez got amazed at the size of a guava in a guava tree in their yard. This wedlock lives in the Buenaventura, the headtown of the Cuban municipality of Calixto Garcia, in Holguin province, where Mother Nature gave them such awesome surprise.
Chicken Born with Ducklike Legs in Cuban Town
They live nearby a store on Jupiter street, so they went there to weigh the fruit, which to everyone's surprise was two ounces from weighing a pound.
They say they have cropped many fruits but this one exceeded expectations. For that reason they are giving that tree a special care from now on.
They also devote time and effort to the 18 guava trees, and the threes of mango, plum, banana and avocado they have in the green yard near their house.
But Marta Riselda did not want to miss the chance and took the guava to Radio Juvenil to spread the news.
They all agree this might not be a record, but a fruit of the size and weight of that guava always calls the people's attention.
The proud woman also wanted to share the guava, but also have a piece for her and her husband.
Living on Jupiter street maybe helped the guava grow so big; ha, ha, ha, nothing to do with the size of the biggest planet of the solar system, but tricks of Mother Nature. / By Radio Juvenil / Translated by Radio Angulo.
