Austrian Airlines to Fly to Havana October 2016
Austrian Airlines has announced it will start flight service once a week to Havana, as of October 25th, 2016, thus adding another new tourist destination to its flight schedule.

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, using a Boeing 767 to Havana, as part of the airline's winter flight schedule.

Austrian Airlines is including a Caribbean destination in its flight portfolio for the first time in five years. The last time Austria's flagship carrier operated flights to the Caribbean was in 2010 when it flew to Punta Cana, the Dominican Republic.

"2016 is the year in which Austria and Cuba celebrate 70 years of bilateral ties. We are pleased to link our new direct flight to Havana with this anniversary," Austrian Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Andreas Otto told reporters.

He added that the launch of flight service to Cuba is another step in the consistent expansion of the airline's "long-haul route portfolio and its continuing focus on tourist destinations." / By RHC.

Good news for tourists in Austria and nearby countries who want to visit Cuba. I wonder when Cubana will return to the UK with its flight schedule, especially as the UK is now a leading European country for tourism to Cuba? And will British Airways ever return to the island? Virgin Atlantic are starting a third weekly flight soon.
