Beijing-Havana Direct Flight, Multidestination Goals
The charge direct flight from Beijing to Havana by Air China airline will boost multidestination to increase tourism in the Latin American and Caribbean region, told Prensa Latina today Mayra Alvarez, Cuban Viceminister of Tourism.

As part of a promotion event of the airline company to different destinations like Canada, the United States, South Africa and Cuba, the official recognized the direct flight to Havana will be highly significant for increasing Chinese tourism to the island.

This strategy will contribute to the development of relations already solid and for many years among our peoples, said the Deputy Minister.

She highlighted it will be the first direct flight to Latin America which will be used by the rest of the countries as multidestination and that it will contribute to progress in the exchange between both peoples.

It is vital for Cuban tourism, in which the arrival of visitors from China is increasing considerably, she added.

She mentioned this nation occupies the 17th place among emitters of travelers to Cuba and with this initiative, the number will surely rise.

Equally, in exclusive conversations with He Zhigang, General Manager of the Marketing Department of Air China, Prensa Latina was told the main objective of that event lies in promoting flights to Havana.

In his opinion, many persons (most of who Chinese) do not know the Caribbean country with which this millenary Asian nation shares the best liniks since diplomatic relations were established 55 years ago. He said the first direct flight, which will make a technical stop in Montreal, Canada, is scheduled for next Decembere 27 with a frequency of three times a week and previsions to be expanded in the future.

Many persons are going to value this initiative as Cuba has beaches and ocean outlets that attract our nationals when they go on vacations... It will be a destination to attract more Chinese to the Caribbean, he said.

According to the high official of the Chinese airline, who visited Cuba, there is no doubt about the warm welcome offered by Cubans with their joyful, happy and partying that is breathed in this Caribbean land.

Businesspeople, diplomats and public in general foreign and nationals coincided in this capital that the new route using a Boeing 777-300ER, opens relevant opportunities to the so-called entertainment industry and trade between the second world economy and Latin America.

This initiative takes off when China and Cuba mark the 55th anniversary of their historic diplomatic relations.

The route will also contribute to the links with the rest of Latin American and Caribbean countries and it is expected to boost economic relations, cultural and personal exchanges between the Asian territory and the region.

According to official data, between January and November, 2014, twemty-two thousand 115 Chinese traveled to the Caribbean island, for a growth of 27.5 percent compared to the same period of 2013.

Previously, flights went through Spain, Germany, France and Mexico. Chinese citizens do not need a visa to enter Jamaica, Bahamas, Grenada and Turks and Caicos islands.

Commercial and economic links between China and the Caribbean countries show healthy growth rates and this flight shows the improvement in exchanges between both parts.
