One of the Cuban Five, Ramon Labañino, was appointed last May 16 as Vice-President for Professional Activities of the Cuban National Association of Economists and Accountants (ANEC by its Spanish acronym)

During the official welcoming ceremony at the venue of ANEC, its President Oscar Luis Hung Pentón, gave the Cuban Hero a card that confirms him as member of the organization that gathers Cuban economists and accountants.

Labañino said he would be honored to contribute to the development of Cuba in this new responsibility, according to a report by Cuban newspaper Juventud Rebelde.

Ramon Labañino and the other four Cuban antiterrorism fighters known worldwide as the Five, spent over a decade and a half in US jails serving unjust sentences.

Good to see that this international figure is recognised and appreciated in Cuba. This news somehow has not reached the Miami Herald, which chooses instead to feature Jose Daniel Ferrer, the self-appointed leader of an anti-Government outfit that is striving to replace the Cuban Government with a US puppet regime, such as the country endured 1902 - 1958. Ferrer should stand for election in Cuba in 2017; let us see how much support he really has in the island.
