Grand Master (GM) Isam Ortiz Suarez and International Master (IM) Camilo Gomez Garrido will participate in the Open Chess Tourney slated for San Salvador, December fifth thru eleventh.
GM Ortiz Suarez, Cuba's National Champion - with a rating of 2,580 points - is only preceded by Dutch Sergey Tiviakov (2,608), in a competition that could help him in his preparation sight the World Olympics next 2016.
IM Gomez Garrido (2,553) that is almost about to reach the Grand Master title, will have the opportunity to play vs. strong rivals, among them Russian Evgeny Romanov (2,579) and Colombians Alder Escobar (2,524) and Sergio Barrientos (2,482).
IM Gomez Garrido will also take part in the tourney Millonario de Navidad, which is organized in Bogota - the Colombian capital city – and is scheduled for December 18th thru 22nd.
Cuban GMs Carlos Hevia (2,545), Omar Almeida (2,545) and Aramis Alvarez (2,474) will also participate in the tourney.
Russian Andrei Stukopin (2,574) has the best rating so far; anyhow, they expect that more than 96 players could register and surpass that figure of 2014, when Peruvian Emilio Cordova edged Cuban GM Lazaro Bruzon for the crow.
