With the ticket for the final secured from the previous day, the FIDE Master (MF) Manuel Darío Ochoa Holguin celebrated his seventh victory on Thursday and the position of honor of the National Men's Chess semifinal concluded in Havana.
Manuel Dario, the lowest Elo among the 12 participants with two thousand 326, said goodbye with triumph, with black pieces, before the International Master (MI) Pedro Jiménez to accumulate 8.5 points (seven wins, three tables and one setback, against the MI Diasmani Otero).
The Grand Master (GM) Yasser Quesada, also with the finalist ticket insured from the penultimate date, divided this Thursday driving black with MI Luis Ernesto Quesada, and accumulated 8.0 units to anchor second. The posts two and three of the semifinal and with it the two remaining tickets for the decisive stage, were obtained by the talented young Carlos Daniel Albornoz, of Camagüey, and the veteran GM of the capital Omar Almeida, respectively, both with seven units.
The U-20 national champion, the Avilanian Luis Ernesto Quesada, finished fifth with 6.5 points and could also be included in the final if any of the insured fails.
In the final indicated, from the next February 2, 10 competitors will participate in the capital, because the four classified in the fight concluded this Thursday will be added six members of the national preselection, the cases of Holguin Isam Ortiz and Camilo Gomez, the capital Yuri González, the Matanzas Yusnel Bacallao, the Villa Clara Ermes Espinosa and the Santiago Lelys Martinez.
