Holguin Wins National Crown of Etecsa Softball Tourney

Holguin: Softball Cup to Mark CMKO's 80th Birthday
Pedro Pablo Rodriguez's double not alone tied the gold medal match Holguin was playing vs the squad of Havana's Direccion Territorial Oeste, but also gave the win coming from behind.
Holguin was losing to Havana's team (6 – 0), but its offence managed to scored four runs in the sixth inning, then drove the tree runs needed in the bottom of the seventh inning to finally7 grab the crown.
Jorge Leon, a reinforcement player from Santiago de Cuba, won the match; reliever Didie Atanay lost.
Ruben Sotomayor of Havana produced a three homerun.
Havana team reached to the finals after beating Artemisa (17 – 15), in a offensive match with eight homeruns apiece.
Holguin won four matches and lost one in the regular stage, as so did Artemisa, a team that went second in the tiebreak for having lost to the local squad (17 - 6).
Holguin (6- 1) ranked first; Havana's Direccion Territorial Oeste went second (5 - 3); Artemisa stood third (3 - 4) and Las Tunas fourth (3 - 3); Sancti Spiritus (1 - 4) and Havana's Direccion Norte (Havana) (0 - 5) went fifth and sixth, respectively.
Three players from Holguin were chosen for the Board Honor: Jorge Luis Rodriguez - most wining thrower (3 victories) and five K; Enidio Mastrapa for his offensive average (7 out of 10 .700.), Pedro Pablo Rodriguez – the most valuable player.
Also thrower Alexis Cisneros best .ERA. (3.12); Yoandis Lopez, leader in hits (10) and homeruns (6); and Yaser Martinez – leader in doubles (3); all of them from Artemisa.
Other acknowledgements went for Yoandris Gomez, from Havana's Direccion Territorial Oeste, runs batted in (16) and Julio Reina from Sancti Spiritus that produced the only three base hit in the tourney.
