The vice president of the Cuban Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, met on Tuesday afternoon in Havana with theChairman of the Council of State of Ghana, Professor Kofi Awoonor, who is on an official visit to the Caribbean nation.

According to Granma newspaper, both leaders spoke about the state of bilateral relations and other topics of common and international interest. They also expressed their willingness to continue strengthening the already excellent ties between the two nations.

The distinguished visitor was accompanied by the ambassador of Ghana in Havana, David Sarpong Boateng, and by other officials of their embassy in the Cuban capital.

Also present was Alberto Velazco San Jose, Director of the Sub-Saharan Africa Department at the Cuban Foreign Ministry.

The Council of State in Ghana is a small body of prominent citizens, analogous to the Council of Elders in the traditional political system, which advises the President on national issues. / Source - AIN
