Circular economy in Holguin

Holguin entities with experiences in circular economy

The province of Holguin has achieved experiences in circular economy in industries of various branches, as part of the improvement programs of the socialist state enterprise.

The strategy has among its objectives to contribute to the increase of income and to act in the treatment of solid waste, which is related to the projections of sustainable development and the protection of the Environment.

It also generates a greater amount of goods and services with the premise of recycling and reusing available resources and transforming their use value, through the promotion of the activity by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma).

Within these projections, companies such as the José Miró Argenter polygraphic company are developing new lines to take advantage of the cardboard, cardboard and paper trimming resulting from the printing and binding of books and notebooks, included in the social mission of this entity, quality specialist Olga Seiniv, told ACN.

She said that in addition to the traditional diaries, folders and gift bags of different formats, there are also invitation cards, presentation, design and printing and didactic means for primary school students.

This entity has a small shop to sell these products, which allows it to generate other income in spite of the limitations with the raw material that reduce the main productions of the factory, located in the outskirts of the city, he pointed out.

She emphasized that these articles are part of the so-called “clean” manufacturing because of their harmony with the environment and the reduction in the volume of waste generated by the sector.

Citma’s initiatives to promote the circular economy also include specialized conferences, training workshops, exchanges with companies and organizations, courses, among other actions.
