Projects of Agricultural Machineries Consolidate in Holguin
Camilo Valdes Borrego, who runs the mechanization dept. at Calixto Garcia livestock company, said, "the new machines respond to the More Aliments Program, sponsored by Brazil in Latin America and the Caribbean on the initiative of former president Ignacio Lula Da Silva."
The Yto tractor with a high efficiency, productivity and maneuverability, has a double traction and a working capacity of 65 horsepower, thus able to plow more than a hectare in a single day.
In addition to the tractors, they also brought spraying kits, while other implements and spare parts are pending to arrive.
Valdes Borrego said, that "the new tractors respond to the need of working the land for pastures and forage, to help ranching reach higher levels.
Those machines will not alone help reach food sufficiency and sustainability, mainly during the dry season, but also help cattle recover from setbacks, and other prioritized actions to increase and diversify agricultural production."
The men to operate the machines are seasoned workers; anyhow, they were previously trained to work with the new technology, as well as fix them and make them work for a long while, Valdes Borrego asserted. / By Artemio Leyva Aguilera – Radio Juvenil / Translated by Radio Angulo.
