Over 39,000 Self-Employed Workers in Holguin
Self-employment in the northeastern Cuban province of Holguin so far totals up to 39,158 people, what represents a significant growth in the number of people benefiting from this form of employment, equal to 2010, year when it mada its way.
Flow of State Workers to Private Assessed in Cuba

The most representative activities, according to statistics consulted, are the transport of cargo and passengers, hired by individuals, processors and food vendors, street retailers of agricultural products, popularly known as ¨carretilleros¨.

In the case of Holguin province, the municipalities of Antilla and "Frank Pais" are the ones with the lowest growth recorded in this type of work, which shows a tendency to continue rising in the territory of the eastern province.

The self-employment not only provides new forms of employment, but through the mechanisms that sustain it they free the state to deal with some production lines which may well be assumed by this modality.

The incorporation of self-employment was endorsed on the Guidelines for Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, and contributes with its contributions to the updating of the Cuban economic model. / Taken from Al Dia.
