The ExpoHolguin trade and fair grounds will host the 20 and 21 of November an event of significance for the northeastern Cuban province of Holguin, called "Local Development in Holguin: Potentials and Challenges," which is organized by the province branch of the Chapter of the Sociedad Economica de Amigos del Pais (Economic Society of the Country's Friends - SEAP in Spanish).
Projects of Agricultural Machineries Consolidate in Holguin
The shop will continue on with the one held in Havana by the Section of Economy and Sciences of the SEAP in November, 2012.
That event opened a space to assess issues and make proposals on this highly important field, focused on the present day and near future, mainly because Holguin looks at a sustained progress following the proper administration of the local development linked to science, technology and innovation.
The secretary of the Holguin Chapter, Leonardo Nieves, informed that during the first day MSc. Belkis Rivera Riveron - the SEAP president in the province - will give the opening speech, to later give the floor to PhD. Fidel Vascos Gonzalez, the national president of the country's oldest NGO, but also Humberto Blanco, who runs the Center of Studies of Cuban Economy.
The lectures "A Look at Local Development from a Territorial Dimension," by Luisa Iñiguez, and "Challenges for Local Development from an Institutional Perspective," by Juan Tirana will come later.
They will also target other issues like the different production forms in the territory like the cooperatives, solidarity economy and the production chains and local development by MSc. Eduardo Gonzalez and Iboris Sanchez.
They are also arranging a panel on "Territorial Dimension for Local Development and the Municipal Strategies," chaired by MSc. Claribel Gonzalez and PhD. Eduardo Avila; as well as "A Look at Local Development from the Academia Training thru the Post-grade," by PhD. Edilberto de Jesus Perez.
During the second day, they will witness the development of tourism in Gibara, a municipality that will present its projects for local development and will show two experiences. / By Alexis Rojas Aguilera.
