Today, they there are more than 1,600 contamination sources in the province which hit river basins, reservoirs, springs and other sources.
One of the largest polluters in the province is the Company of Hydraulic Resources, with more than a thousand sources of contamination, mainly the contamination coming from homes, which flow into the basins of the rivers Cauto, Sagua and Mayari.
Agriculture also hits waters with wastes that flow into the above mentioned basins.
