The book "Como cuidar en casa al anciano dependiente" was presented at the town's public library, in which the author deals with issues like Alzheimer's disease, communication in the relation main-carer and old person, hygiene, nutrition, sleep, breathing troubles and many other topics on health.
Local writer Ana Gloria Gonzalez, who runs the municipal public library, presented the book which channelled a debate and experience exchanges between the elderly people and the carers who work at the day care home for the elderly in Banes.
The meeting, where moving anecdotes were heard, urged the Health Branch of Banes and other local institutions to contribute with the preparation of the families with dependant old people, which should take on their role, mostly today that Cuba keeps getting old, and Banes is no exception.
The people that attended the presentation went over health troubles like Alzheimer's disease, its tendency today in Cuba and Banes, as well as the psychological and emotional preparation of the families to care for the sick ones.
"Old people are sacred beings," said Jose Marti, therefore Cuba keeps on going toward that top goal.
Therefore, everybody agreed that the book "Como cuidar en casa al anciano dependiente" helps people understand the issue and behave much better on such a sense, said Ana Gloria Gonzalez in the presentation of this text. / By Carlos García Matos - Radio Banes / Translated by Radio Angulo.
