The University of Holguin just opened the degree on Information Sciences for students coming from the homonymous northeastern jurisdiction and the nearby provinces of Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba and Granma; the new specialty is attached to the faculty of Informatics and Mathematics at that Higher Education Center.
Full teacher Maria Virginia Gonzalez said that one of the challenges today is helping pupils take apart the true scientific texts from the poor quality ones, which often come in the Internet.
Gonzalez said that students should profit from the opportunities now given thru the creation de repositories, data bases and the virtual libraries, where users can access to specialized and top quality literature.
Professor Gonzalez stressed on the need of working early to develop mechanisms that can contribute to observing copyright and the protection of scientific research, what will for sure influence on the territorial progress.
Student Beatriz Sabori praised the significance of the studies on Scientific Research for their training, and meant she will do all about to build a bridge that will help her along her studies and career.
Rector Reynaldo Velazquez, who attended the opening of the degree on Information Sciences at that Higher Eduaction Center, said the students to major in that field will play a key role in research and administration of information.
The new degree just opened, out of the 39 specialties studied there, will make it possible for the next coming academic year to register without having to sit in; thus the entrance test for this field is not obligatory any longer. / Claudia Patricia Dominguez del Rio – ACN / Translated by Radio Angulo.
