Cuban Parliament President Visits Holguin Province
The role of the district councilors to monitor and respond to the people's requests were issues discussed in the exchange held (Friday) between Esteban Lazo, Politburo member and President of the National Assembly of People's Power and leaders of local bodies of government and other institutions in the province.

During the meeting, Lazo said that in the process of improving the Popular Power one of the main aspects to protect is the delegate, his authority, prestige and principles.

"The People's Councils, constituencies and people in general are the basis of our political system, which is based on the State's relationship with the people. This should never ever fail", he added.

After knowing the state of attention to the voters' requests in the territory, the also Vice President of the State Council said they "have to be attended at the place where they originated, in the People's Council with agencies that influence voters to make them understand why the problem can not be immediately solved.

Participants in the meeting also addressed problems related water supply in the municipality of Banes, due to the deterioration of networks. Most requests (9000) reported in the province are related to that service in the municipality, hence the need to revise the 2016 Water Resources investment plan to give priority to the issue.

The meeting, chaired also by Luis Torres Iribar, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the province, also reviewed the social prevention from the community. Community groups with delegates and presidents of People's Councils, with the support of other bodies must fight indiscipline and illegalities.

The adverse productive outcomes associated to problems with yields this year, mainly in 18 lines of agriculture, including meats, beans, vegetables, eggs, cow's milk and honey, sparked a broad debate among participants.

Nibardo Ibarra Martinez, provincial delegate of Agriculture, said that the loss of the structure of collection and storage of products, as well as means of transport, brought them to establish new actions to restore the system.

In this regard Iríbar Torres recalled that this province has the highest number of independent farmers, so the persuasion work should multiply and reach each land owner to take part of their agricultural production toward state markets to benefit the population.
