Hundreds of works (299) were presented in cooperative farms, out of which 96 were taken to 12 municipal events, and 32 will be presented in the provincial forum.

Those works mainly approached family agriculture, soil conservation, food and seed production; agro ecological practices, use and exploitation of water and environment handling, but also irrigation thru different ways and diversification of ecological farms.

The work done by women in family agriculture, in agricultural production and racnhing also raised much interest.

A work on the extraction of oil from the fruit of the Cuban belly palm tree (In Spanish corojo - Acrocomia totai and Acrocomia aculeata for science), with a machine made by their creators in a cooperative farm, called the attention on one of those forums.

It is good to say that the largest contributions to the forums come from the municipalities of Gibara, Rafael Freyre, Calixto Garcia, Urbano Noris and Mayari.

The ANAP meant how grateful they are about the aid by the local branch of the country's Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), the University of Holguin, the Unit of Extension and Research on Agriculture Sciences, the Institute of Veterinarian Medicine and the directive board of the Provincial Forum.

Also the provincial branch of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH), whose seven companies and four grass-root units presented works in the forums, with 106 proposals of innovations or solutions to problems.

Some good news is the Forum to take place before the year ends in the mountain community of Arroyo Seco, in the municipality of Mayari; an event that will be entirely dedicated to the works made by highland dwellers. / By Alexis Rojas Aguilera.
